Horror Stories of Shady Sacramento Property Managers

If you’ve never hired Sacramento property managers before, you may feel unsure about what to reasonably expect. Chances are, you’ll find qualified, professional Sacramento property managers like us, who truly care about their clients and maintain clear lines of communication at all times. However, we’ve worked with many clients who have been burned by Sacramento property managers in the past. We don’t want to name any names or diss any competitors, but you won’t believe what some of these shady fly-by-night organizations are doing!

The Favor Givers

These shady Sacramento property managers have their own maintenance staff of friends and family members that would love to repair roofs, fences, bathrooms, walls, or carpet stains – for a price! While the repair personnel may only be getting paid $12.50/hour, the property manager may be charging the owner $65/hour, pocketing the spare change! There’s really no way to tell how well these untrained workers are doing either! Furthermore, was the repair even necessary at all? There are obvious conflicts of interest involved when Sacramento property managers hire their own maintenance staff.

The Fee Crazy

These shady Sacramento property managers charge small fees for everything! Most of the times, you weren’t aware of it at all until you saw your statement. You were charged for snow removal in November, December, January and February – even though you barely saw a few inches all year! They may charge you fees for cancelling their services.

The Networker Nut

These Sacramento property managers have inside connections with all the local repair crews and use them for their own advantage. They may get referral kickbacks and choose sub-par or more expensive companies to do business with — simply because there is something in it for them.

The Secretive Screw-Over

These Sacramento property managers scare all your tenants away with their nasty attitudes and unfair fees. Sometimes managers charge tenants a “screening fee” to pocket more money. Another manager once charged $125 extra on the rent each month and pocketed the difference! Sometimes managers charge all sorts of unfair late penalties or security deposits, without ever telling you. These are not the sort of people you want representing your precious property!
